Privacy Policy
The short version
Florida Ebike Rentals is a static directory. We do not require an account, we do not sell personal information, and we collect as little as the site can function on. The two places data does get involved are advertising, which is served by Google, and the contact form, which you choose to send us.
Information we collect
Information you give us. If you use the contact form, we receive whatever you put in it: your name, email address, and the content of your message. We use it to answer you and to correct the directory. We do not add you to a marketing list.
Automatically collected technical data. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider records standard server data when a page is requested — IP address, browser user agent, referring page, and the time of the request. This is used for security, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic counts.
Location, only if you allow it. The homepage can show rentals near you. That feature calls your browser's geolocation API, which always asks your permission first. Your coordinates are used inside your own browser to sort the list of listings and are never transmitted to us or stored anywhere. Decline the prompt and the site works normally, showing top-rated statewide results instead.
What we do not collect. No accounts, no passwords, no payment details. We never take a booking, so we never handle payment card data.
Cookies and similar technologies
We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are used, so we can improve the site. It sets first-party cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) that let it recognise a returning browser. It does not tell us who you are. The site's own features run without these cookies.
Third parties on this site may set cookies or use similar identifiers:
- Google Analytics collects your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you visit and
how you reached them, and reports them to us in aggregate. Google processes this under its own privacy policy. You can opt out with Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Google AdSense serves the advertising that funds this site. Google and its partners may use
cookies and device identifiers to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads based on your prior visits to this and other sites.
- Map tiles are loaded from OpenStreetMap when you open a map view. Your browser requests those
images directly from OpenStreetMap's servers, which receive your IP address as part of any normal web request.
- Route maps on some trail guides are embedded from Ride with GPS. The embed only loads when you
scroll to it, and your browser requests it directly from Ride with GPS, which receives your IP address and may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy.
- Listing photographs are loaded from Google's image servers for the same reason.
- Affiliate links, including the Amazon links in our promotional banner and shop pages, take you
to the retailer's own site. Following one means that retailer receives your request and may set its own cookies under its own privacy policy. We are not sent any personal information about what you then view or buy, only aggregate commission reporting.
Advertising and Google AdSense
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user's prior visits to this website and other websites. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this and other sites.
You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or, in Europe, Your Online Choices.
For more information about how Google handles data on partner sites, see Google's policy page.
How we use information
We use the limited information described above to:
- respond to messages you send us,
- correct, add or remove directory listings,
- keep the site available and defend against abuse,
- understand aggregate traffic patterns,
- serve and measure advertising through Google AdSense.
We do not sell or rent personal information. We do not share your contact-form message with the businesses listed on this site unless you specifically ask us to pass it on.
Data retention
Contact-form messages are kept for as long as needed to handle your request and to maintain a record of listing corrections, then deleted. Server logs are retained by our hosting provider on their standard schedule, typically a short rolling window.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to request access to the personal information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to certain processing, or to opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as those terms are defined by state privacy laws such as the Florida Digital Bill of Rights, the California Consumer Privacy Act and the GDPR.
We do not sell personal information. To exercise any other right, contact us through the contact page and tell us what you would like us to do. We will respond within the time frame your local law requires.
Children
This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
The site is served over HTTPS. It is a static site with no user accounts, no database of visitors and no login system, which removes the most common ways personal data leaks from a website. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we hold almost nothing that would be worth taking.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. The revision date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. Material changes will be reflected here rather than sent by email, since we do not hold a mailing list.
