Pricing

None of the 5 Daytona Beach shops publishes rental rates in their Google profile, so we don't print a price we can't stand behind. Call or check the shop's website for the current rate, and ask about these at the same time:

  • the rate for the hours you actually need: two hours, half day, full day or a week;
  • the deposit or card hold per bike, and when it is released;
  • whether helmets, locks and a damage waiver are included, and the delivery fee if the shop delivers.

Our rental cost guides explain how daily and weekly rates, deposits and card holds and damage waivers work, so you know what to compare.

Riding a rented bike in Daytona Beach

Daytona Beach is one of the few places in Florida where the beach itself is the ride. The sand here is fine and packs down hard, which is why Volusia County lets cars drive on marked stretches of it, and why a fat-tire bike can cruise the waterline at low tide for miles. Check the tide before you set off: the firm, wet sand near the water is the good riding surface, and it narrows sharply at high tide.

Fat-tire e-bikes are the popular rental here for exactly that reason. Their wide, low-pressure tyres float over softer sand where a standard bike wheel digs in, and the motor takes the work out of a headwind off the Atlantic. If you plan to stay on paved roads and the boardwalk, a step-through cruiser is lighter and easier to park.

Away from the sand, the classic ride heads north to Ormond Beach and the Ormond Scenic Loop, a canopied road through hammock and along the Halifax River. South of the city, Daytona Beach Shores and Port Orange are an easy run along the coast.

Two weeks of the year change everything: Bike Week in March and Biketoberfest in October bring huge numbers of motorcycles into town. Rentals book up and the main roads are loud and busy, so reserve early and stick to side streets and the beach.

Rules for anything with a motor on the sand are set by Volusia County and do change, so ask the shop what currently applies before you ride an e-bike on the beach.

Before you book

Confirm four things with any shop: the class of bike you are getting, the minimum age for every rider in your group, the size of the card hold, and whether helmets and locks are included. Our pre-rental checklist has the full list, and what it costs covers day rates, deposits and damage waivers.

Daytona Beach bike rental FAQs

Can you ride a bike on Daytona Beach?

Yes. Daytona's hard-packed sand is firm enough that the county allows cars on marked sections, and bicycles are a common sight along the waterline. Ride the firm, wet sand near the water at low tide. For e-bikes specifically, ask your rental shop what Volusia County currently permits on the sand.

What kind of bike should I rent for Daytona Beach?

A fat-tire bike if you want to ride on the beach: the wide tyres stay on top of the sand. A step-through cruiser if you are sticking to roads, the boardwalk and the riverfront. An e-bike of either kind makes the Atlantic headwind a non-issue.

When is it hardest to rent a bike in Daytona Beach?

During Bike Week in March and Biketoberfest in October, when the city fills with motorcycle visitors, and on summer holiday weekends. Book ahead for any of those dates.

Where can I rent a bike or e-bike in Daytona Beach?

We track 5 rental shops in Daytona Beach. Emoschin Electric Bikes leads our ranking with 4.7 stars from 25 Google reviews. Every listing above shows the address, today's hours and directions.

Where can I buy an electric bike in Daytona Beach?

Start with the e-bike specialists: Emoschin Electric Bikes and TuttioECycle. Shops that focus on electric bikes usually sell as well as rent, and several will let a rental count towards a purchase — ask when you call.

Can I rent a scooter in Daytona Beach?

Yes. Daytona Fun Rental lists scooter rentals alongside bikes. Filter the list above by "Scooters" to see just those shops.

Can I rent a golf cart in Daytona Beach?

Boogie Down Golf Carts & Bicycles and Daytona Fun Rental rent golf carts as well as bikes. Street-legal carts need a licensed driver, so check the shop's age rule before you book.

Do Daytona Beach bike rental shops deliver?

2 of the 5 shops we track list delivery: Boogie Down Golf Carts & Bicycles and Daytona Fun Rental. Delivery is often free inside a short radius and charged beyond it, so ask when you call.

Are there guided e-bike tours in Daytona Beach?

No Daytona Beach shop in our directory advertises guided tours right now. See every Florida operator that does on our e-bike tours page.

Which Daytona Beach rental shops are open seven days a week?

Boogie Down Golf Carts & Bicycles and Daytona Fun Rental post hours for all seven days. Seasonal hours change in Florida beach towns, so check before a Sunday ride.

Do I need a licence to ride an e-bike in Daytona Beach?

No. Florida treats an electric bicycle with a motor of 750 W or less and working pedals as a bicycle, so no licence, registration or insurance is needed. Riders under 16 must wear a helmet, and rental shops set their own minimum ages. Towns set their own rules for sidewalks, beaches and trails — see our Florida e-bike law guide.
